The Sunday Post #174

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • It's been a pretty uneventful week. And that's been nice.
  • My mom returned yesterday from her coach tour/trip. She had a wonderful time and I'm so proud of her for going on her own. She met a lot of people and when we went to pick her up yesterday she was exchanging phone numbers with some fellow passengers. :)
  • Had a delicious dinner last night at Copeland's. I don't know why we don't go there more often since it's one of my favorites. One of my sisters joined me and The Husband for dinner and it made for a fun evening. We all split some bananas foster cheesecake for dessert and it was divine.
  • K.A. Tucker announced that she's releasing a sequel to The Simple Wild in March 2020. I am so excited for this one! More of Calla and Jonah's story? Yes, please!
  • And now for this week's 80's music fix: hands-down, one of the best videos to come out of the 80's. And the song is still awesome, too.

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK:

Zany/silly humor isn't really my thing but this was still a fun listen.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

I'm about 65% through The Burning Shadow and, oh my goodness, there is some crazy stuff happening. I have so many questions. I'm a little over halfway though my re-listen of Vision in Silver and I'm remembering why this was one of my favorites from the series.

KINDLE BOOKS:

Because I read the Loveless novella and want to continue the series.
Because I'm certain that one day I will finish the Off Campus series and then move on to the Briar U series. One day...

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. I wish I had an ebook of The Burning Shadow. I would read it so much faster! I'm taking forever with the physical copy.
I'm glad your mom had a blast! That sounds like so much fun!
I also can't wait for Calla and Jonah!

    1. I'm guessing by now you've finished the audio of The Burning Shadow? Maybe I can't wait to hear what you thought of it!!

  2. OMG! There's going to a sequel to Simple Wild?! I'm screaming!! Yaas more Calla and Jonah! I'm so curious how she's going to write this and what it's going to be about. How exciting 😍I hope you have a great week ahead, Tanya!

    1. I know!!! More Calla and Jonah! I am so excited but also nervous about what's in store for the two of them. Hopefully Tucker doesn't make them suffer *too* much. LOL

  3. Yay to your mom and her adventures!! Going on trips by yourself is a fun experience though 💓 Will she be going for more trips? Anyway I clicked the link for Copeland's and I regretted it as soon as I did. THE CRAB GREETED ME AND ALL I WANTED TO DO IS EAT SEAFOOD. I haven't had seafood in such a long time. I only get it when I'm home 😩😭 Cravings aside, I'm excited for The Simple Wild's sequel! This book's one of my favorite reads this year and so far, my fave Tucker book (I've only read 3 books by her so far anyway)

    1. I think she will go on more of those coach tours, Chai! She really enjoyed herself and I think the length of this trip (5 days) was perfect to start with. Not too short, not too long. I wish you were closer because I would take you directly to Copeland's for dinner! You could have the crab and I'd have all the pasta and we'd be full and happy. LOL I can hardly even think about The Simple Wild sequel... I get way too excited! :)

  4. That's so fun that your mom had a good time and made some new friends! I'm very happy for her. OMG your dinner at Copeland's sounds amazing! It's not even 8 am and I AM HUNGRY. THANKS, TANYA! Haha! :D
It sounds like you're having a great time with Burning SHadow! I hope it continues to impress.
    Have a good week, Tanya!

    1. I'm so proud of her for taking the trip. :) And I was making myself hungry just writing about that fabulous dinner! LOL

I'm moving right along with The Burning Shadow. The action has really amped up and is so good!

  5. Did I miss your review for The Darkest Star? I have a copy but haven't started it yet! I disliked Storm and Fury, so I was taking a break from JLA. I fear I might be... outgrowing her. Eep! I know. Her books just haven't been clicking for me. I want to re-read some of her earlier books to see if they have the same oomph I remember.

It's great your mom made some friends and enjoyed herself on the trip! My mom is a homebody, and I cannot see her doing something like that alone.

I hope you have a lovely week, Tanya! I'm sorry I haven't been around much this month! <3

    1. Also, I love the quote at end! I really do get giddy when the book's title pops up in the book. It's an ah-ha moment! :)

    2. I reviewed The Darkest Star almost a year ago... October 2018, I think it was. That one was good but The Burning Shadow was even better. I love being back in the Lux world.

My mom is way more social than I am so I didn't worry about her finding people to talk to or spend time with. Me? Not so much. LOL

  6. We don't have a Copeland's around here, but the food looks good. When I was in Jax, we used to go to a place down in Atlantic Beach called Ragtime. Not sure it's still around, but it had great New Orlean's style food. I stink, because I actually pre-ordered The Chase and still haven't read it. One of these days....I heard the new Crownover series is good. I am really behind on her books.

    1. Ragtime is still around, Sam! It's become a tad upscale in the last few years and it's been a long while since I've been. I'm excited for the Crownover book. She still has a lot of backlist titles that I want to get to.

  8. Coming here is a trip down to memory lane with your music Tanya!!! And yes it is just amazing when our moms are independent and still live their lives and do things on their own even if they have lost their husbands or are aging!

    1. Unlike me, my mom is super social so I had no doubt that she would talk to everyone on the coach and have no problems making friends. :)

  13. I've never heard of Copeland's. Maybe they don't have them here on the West Coast? I'll have to investigate.

Loved Justified! Hope you do too, Tanya. I need to finish the Off-Campus series as well.

I haven't heard of Copelands so that must not be in my area but I am glad you had a nice evening out. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

I'm so proud of my mom going on her own. She's very social and has no problem talking to total strangers so I figured she would be fine. Me, not so much. :)

  22. Oh, I absolutely love Take On Me! It has such beautiful lyrics... And the backing beat is so 80's that you can't help but smile at the cheesy happiness of it.

I'm glad to hear your mum had a lovely trip. I haven't read Crownover's Loveless books, I'll be curious to hear what you think of it!
