Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
This Week's Top Ten Tuesday Topic:
May Flowers
Characters with Floral-Inspired Names
I went back and forth on how to interpret this week's prompt. Book titles with flowers?
Floral book covers? I finally settled on characters named for flowers. Apparently those
are used often because I had no problem coming up with quite a list. Enough so that I
had to whittle it down to ten. Lily was by far the most popular and I think I could have
created a list of all book with characters named Lily. But I kept it to two. 😏
Oh, and it should be noted that until today I had no idea that Katniss, Daphne and Hazel
were flowers. Who knew!
Character: Lily Bloom
Character: Lily Calloway
Character: Calla Fritz
Character: Daisy Jones
Character: Daisy Calloway
Character: Rose Calloway
Character: Hazel Bradford
Character: Daphne Palmer
Have you read any of these books?
Tanya, get out of my head! This was originally how I wanted to do this prompt, but I could not find enough "flower" names on my read shelf. Though, now I have learned there are more that I didn't realize were flower names. I could have included The Simple Wild. Look at that!
ReplyDeleteSam - Great minds, right? :) Call from The Simple Wild would have been a great pick!
DeleteI always forget that Daphne is a flower name!
ReplyDeleteEllie - I was so surprised to learn that Daphne was a flower! lol
DeleteWhat a great list! Other than Daisy Jones, I don't think I could have remembered enough actual character names!
ReplyDeleteAngela - For some reason character names stick with me. :)
DeleteI love punny titles. Kudos to Pucking Around.
ReplyDeleteHere is my Top Ten Tuesday.
Lydia
Lydia - That title always makes me smile. :)
DeleteI didn’t know Katniss or Daphne were flower names either!
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Astilbe
Astilbe - Glad I wasn't the only one who didn't realize that. lol
DeletePoppy is one of my favorite names. Hope you’re well my friend.
ReplyDeletewww.rsrue.blogspot.com
Regine - I don't across the name Poppy often, but I love it, too!
DeleteFun way to interpret the theme! I chose covers, and chose the sequel to It Ends With Us for one of my picks.
ReplyDeleteHERE is my post.
Hi Lisa! Both IEWU and It Starts With Us have such pretty covers!
DeleteOooh Sam did the same!!!!
ReplyDeleteSophie - I think Sam went with characters who were florists or gardeners... but close! :)
DeleteI love that you went with characters with flower names! What a fun idea. :D
ReplyDeleteLark - I was surprised at how many characters had flower names!
DeleteI love how you focused your list on character names!

Thanks Pam! This was a fun one.
DeleteUntil today I had no idea about Katniss and Hazel! Good work!
ReplyDeleteLisa - I definitely got a lesson in flower names when searching. :)
DeleteWell now, Lily Bloom is certainly an excellent choice for this post. I love how you focused on flower names in books.
ReplyDeleteDeb - Lily Bloom was an easy one to remember. :)
DeleteLove that the Addicted books are on here. It was always so fun for me that all the sisters had flower names. 😂 I knew about Katniss bc it was kind of hinted at the books I think, but I didn't know Hazel was a flower!
ReplyDeleteaimee @ aimee can read
Aimee - Even though I knew Katniss's sister Primrose was a flower name, I didn't figure out that Katniss was, too!
DeleteYou know, I do sort of remember hearing that Katniss was a kind of flower. I had no idea bout Daphne or Hazel. Very interesting. Flower names are always popular - I know several Lillies and Heathers. My own name is from a flower and means "lily of the valley."
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Susan - I've heard of a black-eyes Susan so I guess I could have used that, too! :)
DeleteI had no idea Katniss and Daphne were names of a flower! The Summer Swap (last book I finished) had a Lily in it too, lol! I almost wished you did all the books with Lily in it, haha! Loved No One Can Know!
ReplyDeleteRachel - I totally should have done all books with the name Lily. There are a LOT of characters named Lily out there!
DeleteI did know about Katniss and Hazel, but Daphne is a new one to me.
ReplyDeleteAli - I'm still surprised about Daphne being a flower name! lol
DeleteThat's quite a list. I've only read It Ends With Us and Daisy Jones.
ReplyDeleteLucy - I really loved Daisy Jones. I keep meaning to watch the series on Prime but haven't done that yet.
DeleteOh I love this take on the theme and I love the names! I didn't realize the name Daphne was floral inspired.
ReplyDeleteKatherine - I had no idea that Daphne was a flower until I started searching.
DeleteThis is a fun interpretation of the prompt! And I think I could come up with ten books that use Lily, too. 😃
ReplyDeleteDedra - I couldn't believe how popular Lily was! :)
