The Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag (2017)

I've been seeing the Mid-Year Book Freak Out tag all over BookTube and now around the blogosphere. This tag was created by Chami and Ely and their original video and blog post can be found here and here

1. BEST BOOK YOU'VE READ SO FAR IN 2017

Does anyone manage to pick just one book for this question? If so, my (imaginary) hat is off to you, my friend. Meanwhile, I'm feeling impressed that I've kept it to three.

  1. All the Ugly and Wonderful Things was so good. I still have to get to From Sand and Ash. So excited for Without Merit. The Others series is one I need to make time for. Everyone seems to love it. I hope to get to Alex Approximately too!!

  2. Oh gosh, someone asked me my favorite book read this year so far and I was like "ummm....I don't know!" haha There are quite a few I gave five stars too, if those count as best of the best. And I LOVED Beauty and the Beast. I did see Everything Everything too but I've never read the book.

    1. It's impossible to pick one favorite, isn't it?! :)
Oh wow, I totally forgot about Everything, Everything. But I loved Beauty and the Beast more so that's okay.

  3. The Serpent King crushed my soul, and D&R is my happy book too! I liked John from Trust a lot too, just because I love redemption stories and the idea that we can change.

    1. Oh my gosh, The Serpent King. I had such issues with the character of Lydia but Travis and Dill just broke me. I love redemption stories, too. :)

    1. Thanks Geybie! I swear, I feel so fangirly about The Others series that the other day I was Googling fan art and wasn't really finding anything. *sigh* Without Merit is definitely my most anticipated release for the rest of the year.

  5. I MUST read an Amy Harmon book this year. It is a goal. Also agree about Molly! She's got to be one of my favorite characters of the year too. And YES to The Serpent King, I adore that book so, so much! I think the best book I have read is Defy the Stars by Claudia Gray. As for one I *need* to read... GAH there are SO many, but I will go with... Into the Bright Unknown by Rae Carson- because I NEED that series to end well hahah.

    1. Oh man, I have totally fallen for Amy Harmon. I can definitely see her becoming a favorite. And I know how much you love The Serpent King. :) My heart still hurts when I think about Travis. (I listened to it via audio and I will *never* get him repeating "Is my mom there?" out of my head. *sob*) I sure hope the Gold Seer trilogy ends well for you!

  6. There are a bunch of books here I want to read so badly!! I agree about Amy Harmon and Making Faces! Was so surprised by the quality of her writing! I just read you review of Trust and I see it everywhere here on this tag LOL so MAN I can't wait to read it now! List of Cages and The Others also a must. I also want to give CoHO another try because even though I didn't like Me Before you AT ALL wow she can write!

    1. I've read two by Amy Harmon now and she just blows me away. I'll definitely be reading more. CoHo is my favorite... but I don't think she wrote Me Before You. That was Jojo Moyes. A List of Cages was simply unforgettable.
