The Sunday Post #176

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • It was a week of birthdays here. On Monday, my nephew Jackson celebrated his 21st. Look out world, he's legal! :) Thursday was my brother-in-law's birthday (Jackson's dad). And Friday was my sister's birthday (Jackson's mom). Friday also would have been my dad's birthday (his 80th) so he was in my thoughts even more than normal this week.
  • The NHL hockey season started this week. *does happy dances and throws confetti* Both of my teams, the Tampa Lightning and the St. Louis Blues, won a game and lost a game. Tampa plays again tonight so hopefully they can add another to the Win column.
  • Yesterday was a full day from start to finish and I am still totally wiped out this morning (it's about 5 AM Sunday morning as I write this). The Husband signed up to take part in the Genesis Boomerang Rally - an event that included about 65 cars. The rally started at 10 AM for check-in, then lunch at Pusser's, a drivers meeting, and then we hit the road. We drove a mostly scenic route to Daytona (about 90 miles from here), gathered at the Daytona International Speedway, had another drivers meeting, signed a bunch of waivers, and hit the track! There was a pace car (it's not like they turned us loose on the track LOL) and no passing was allowed, but there were definitely opportunities to go FAST. While Robert was 100% in his element, I have to admit, I was not enjoying myself! During the three laps he told me that we weren't going all that fast but afterwards he admitted our top speed was 108 mph. Gah! No wonder I felt like I was on a ride I wanted to get off! LOL Even so, it was a once in a lifetime experience, Robert had a blast, and I'm so glad I got to share it with him.

  • And now for this week's 80's music fix: One of my favorite one hit wonders... Tarzan Boy by Baltimora.

So psyched for hockey! Between the Blues and the Lightning I'll be watching TV more than I have since the Cup finals!

  5. You are so brave to hit the track with your husband, and though I have not heard the song in many years, I will now be singing that refrain all day - "oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh"

  6. Your Daytona adventure sounds like so much fun. Glad you both had a good time!

  7. The Daytona event sounds like so much fun! My husband always makes me nervous in the car but I think I would be okay in this situation since he couldn't be weaving in and out of traffic :) I haven't picked my First Read book yet but the one you picked is the one I have been leaning towards. I love that you are a Blues fan. I live in St. Louis and of course love the team. I am hoping for another great season. Have a great week!

    1. Definitely no weaving and/or passing on the track. They made that clear. But it was still quite the adrenaline rush! How cool that you're in St Louis! I had the BEST time cheering on the Blues throughout the playoffs! I can't even imagine how exciting it was there! Do you ever go to the games?

  8. I think I'd be okay driving that fast, but I wouldn't like being the passenger going that fast. Who knows, though. I'm sure I'd be scared either way, but it'd be worse if I wasn't in control. Glad that you got to share that wonderful (and scary, lol) experience with your hubby!

I'm interested in hearing what you think of Twice in a Blue Moon. I've seen mixed reactions.

    1. Yeah, the lack of control was part of it. But just going that fast had me plenty nervous, too!

  9. Well Tanya I think Robert should be best buddy with my husband! He dreams of driving at Daytona or any other famous place! But I would not feel great either you know LOL

  10. My dad's birthday would have been Friday also; he would have been 106. I requested Twice in a Blue Moon on audio so I'll be listening to it pretty soon. Rest up today so you can have another fast week. Happy reading!

  11. I keep hearing so much about Tessa Bailey. I haven't read anything by her yet, but I'm beginning to think it's time for me to check her out! Great post! : )

    1. I think Tessa Bailey typically writes straight romance instead of a rom-com like Fix Her Up. So I'm curious to try something else by her now.

  12. I'm not sure you could have gotten me ON that ride lol! But it sounds like your husband had a blast and you survived ;)

I've been listening to the Read Me Romance podcast and I've come to really like Tessa Bailey because of it. I haven't read Fix Her Up, but I would like to! I hope you enjoy your books. Have a great week :)

  14. Ohmygosh how fun was the three laps around Daytona????? I'm from Indianapolis so Indycars are my thing. Now that you've gone 108 can you imagine doing 250+ in an Indycar?????

Happy Birthday to all the birthday people.

I had totally forgotten about Tarzan Boy!!!! Thank you!!!! I just added it to my Spotify playlist.

    1. Oh boy, if I wasn't loving the 108 mph I don't even want to imagine 250+! I'll leave that to the professionals. LOL

Tarzan Boy was one of my faves in the 80's. Still such a fun song!

  15. Oh wow!! What a stellar experience... I can see why your husband was over the moon. Daytona laps?!!! How neat that you went along even though it isn't as much your thing. What a great wife you are. ❤️ Happy reading and I hope everyone had a wonderful birthday.

  17. An awesome week for you!

Tarzan Boy was one of the songs in the ‘name that tune’ videos my family got sucked into last night.

Wishing you a great reading week

  18. AH YAY! Another hockey fan! We're LA Kings fans here. What a disappointing first game >.< But they kind of suck overall now hahah Still gotta root for them, though! I hope you have a great week!

    1. Oh no... maybe this is their year/season. It could happen. LOL That's how I feel about our NFL team (Jaguars). They've sucked for several seasons now, but we've still gotta pull for them. :)

    1. I haven't had (or made) much time for reading the past several days so I'm only about 25% in to Twice in a Blue Moon, but I'm definitely enjoying it so far!

  21. Holy wow, I just converted 108mph to km and that's seriously fast! I think I would've felt really nauseated especially going around the track 😂I get the thrill but I'd probably be so scared too haha
I'm so looking forward to hearing your thoughts on TIABM! Hope you're having a great week, Tanya :)

  22. Men and their toys, it sounds like he had a wonderful day out though Tanya and seeing you didn't enjoy it as much, it's great to have a little leverage 😂 My husband wanted watch a film called Hitman at the movies years and years ago, it was horrible and I still use it to my advantage 😂😂😂😂

    1. The older the man, the more expensive his toys get. LOL It wasn’t my thing but it was fun to experience it with him and see him have such a good time. And like you said... now I have a little leverage. LOL
