The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:
- I'm taking part in the October of Books Giveaway Hop so if you haven't entered be sure to check it out. What's better than a free book? :)
- It was a short work week for me since I had planned to take Thursday and Friday off. I had a few appointments on Thursday and Friday was just a little bonus mental health day. Having a 4 day weekend has been divine.
- We nabbed tickets for both Wicked (one of my favorite musicals) and Elton John so we have two big shows to look forward to.
- Lauren @ Bookmark Lit has organized #ReadForGrace to honor someone I know many of us considered a friend. Tomorrow (October 14) would have been Grace's birthday and #ReadForGrace is a wonderful way to remember her. Lauren has made it easy by creating this spreadsheet that lists all of Grace's favorites and the books on her TBR. I'm already reading Twice in a Blue Moon, which was on Grace's TBR. Check out Lauren's post if you're interested and use the hashtag #ReadForGrace.
- And now for this week's 80's music fix: Times Two had a minor hit or two in the late 80's and I always liked this one.

October of Books Giveaway Hop
WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK:
WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:
PHYSICAL BOOKS:
I've already read and reviewed The Burning Shadow but I received my pre-ordered hard copy this week along with the limited edition Book Beau that was designed just for the book. Love it!
How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!
I saw the #ReadForGrace tag and it is such a wonderful idea to help celebrate someone who so many people cared for. I really love the idea and I hope that it's something everyone can do for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, too, Becky. I think it's the perfect way to honor and remember Grace.
DeleteYeah for 4-day weekends and shows to look forward to. It's been so long since I saw Wicked. I think my daughter's friend's father was still the Wizard when I saw it. Hope you enjoy both shows immensely. I recently listened to the rest of the Tangled books. So much delicious drama and the humor was great too. I do not recognize that song. Our musical tastes were night and day in the 80s (I was all about the mope-rock/anglo-pop), but those clothes and dance moves had me giggling.
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you knew someone in the show! I'm excited for Wicked... it's been several years since I've seen it. I'm about 3/4 thru Twisted and this HUGE misunderstanding between Drew and Kate is about to do me in. Gah! LOL at mope-rock. That's funny. :) I was mostly into British new wave/pop back in the day. Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Wham, Spandau Ballet, etc. Yeah, the dance moves in that video are sooo bad! LOL
DeleteLove that last photo. That's so me!! :D
ReplyDeleteI've just finished reading Holidate by Monica Murphy! A very fun Christmas read. Makes me want to get me Christmas stuff already! LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading!
I think I've read only one by Monica Murphy and it was an older YA book she did a couple years ago. I need to try something else by her!
DeleteI love the #ReadForGrace idea. I saw Wicked years ago and loved it! Also, I would LOVE to see Elton John!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've only seen Wicked once and that was years ago. So excited to see it again! Elton John came here back in March on his farewell tour and I skipped it. I was thrilled to find out that he tacked on another date next year toward the end of the tour.
Deleteplans....have a great week
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental
Thanks :)
DeleteI didn’t recognise your 80’s hit this week.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a great reading and great week, have a fabulous time at Wicked and Elton John.
Thanks, very excited for the upcoming shows!
DeleteThis is a wonderful idea the Read For Grace! And good for you this four days weekend! Funny how when we have more days off we feel like it's still too short no?
ReplyDeleteHopefully ReadForGrace will continue every year. The 4 day weekend was fabulous... and much needed!
DeleteI love that you took a mental health day!
ReplyDeleteI need to also take another look at the reading list for Read for Grace, although I'm limited to audiobooks since I won't be home for most of the day.
(Amber Elise @ Du Livre)
I'm trying to be better about that. Instead of waiting until I'm on the verge of a breakdown. LOL
DeleteI saw a lot of posts about Read For Grace and it made me happy to see so many participating.
I definitely need to read an Emma Chase book soon!
ReplyDeleteThe Tangled series is fun but I think her Royally series and her Getting Some series are the best!
DeleteI so identify with the meme you shared last thing! Thank you for putting #readforgrace on my radar. I will definitely check out the hashtag. I hadn't heard anything about it.
ReplyDeleteI recently added All I Want for Christmas Is You by Miranda Liasson to my ARC list, and I can't wait to read it. I loved the first two books in the series.
Glad I'm not alone, Angie... home is always the best place to be. :)
DeleteI've yet to read anything by Miranda Liasson but I'm interested in trying something by her.
I finished The Burning Shadow earlier today, and (1) it's entirely because of your praise of it that I got it and read it this fast, so thanks, (2) it was SO GOOD. I felt like it was more of a four than a five star book at times, but I couldn't not give it five stars, because I was fully, 1000% engrossed in the story. And Evie and Luc are my favorite ship at the moment.
ReplyDeleteEither way, glad you had a four day weekend/time to relax this week, and I hope your next week will be spectacular! Also, I've never seen Wicked - I don't even think it's shown in Hungary - but I'd love to! And getting tickets for something you're excited for is always a great feeling. :)
I'm so excited to hear that, Veronika! And I'm so thrilled that you loved it, too!!! :) My husband is actually reading it right now and I'm constantly saying, "What's happening now?" LOL
DeleteRead for Grace is such a beautiful sentiment and a lovely way to remember Grace. I have such a soft spot for Elton John, he's not someone I'd usually listen to but he's just so fabulous! I'm glad you were able to rest over the super long weekend, I think we all need to take a couple of days for ourselves every now and the. Hope you have a wonderful week of reading Tanya!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see so many people participating in the Read For Grace event.
DeleteElton John is such a great showman/performer. I'm excited to get the chance to see him perform live.
Four day weekends are absolutely awesome! I'm definitely having some weekend envy. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to read A Curse So Dark and Lonely tomorrow for #ReadForGrace.
Wicked is an awesome musical, I hope you enjoy it this time around as much as you have in the past!
It's been years since I saw Wicked so I'm super excited to experience it again! We're taking my mom so I'm looking forward to seeing her reaction, too. :)
DeleteOoh Elton John. Nice! And #ReadForGrace is awesome.
ReplyDeleteFour day weekends are the best. :) And I love that graphic- so true!!!
That graphic is 100% me. LOL No matter what fun plans are made, I'd almost always rather be home. :)
DeleteI think we should get regular mental health days! Do you have off tomorrow too? because that would be even better :D
ReplyDeleteOkay I'm jealous, Elton John AND Wicked?! I saw Wicked years ago and it was great. Enjoy!
Have a great week :)
I'd vote for that! No, I didn't have Columbus Day off but coming off a 4 day weekend I couldn't be too bummed about that. :)
DeleteIt's been years since I've seen Wicked so I'm super excited to see it again! And Sir Elton? Eeeek! That's going to be awesome!
Wicked is one of my daughter's favorites. We are attending a production next spring. Twice In A Blue Moon is on my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteIt's so much fun to have an event like that to look forward to. :)
DeleteSo nice to have a four day weekend! Read for Grace is a wonderful idea! Hope you enjoy Twice in a Blue Moon. :)
ReplyDeleteThe four day weekend was so nice... and did wonders for how I felt. I've been enjoying Twice in a Blue Moon!
DeleteA four-day weekend sounds wonderful, and so does tickets to Wicked and Elton John. Enjoy! I hadn't heard about Read For Grace until I saw your post but it sounds like a wonderful way to pay tribute to her.
ReplyDeleteThe four day weekend was a much needed break. I need to do better about taking those occasionally.
DeleteAhhh you got the sleeve!! It's so pretty! And it's so cool you get to see Wicked!
ReplyDeleteGenesis @ Whispering Chapters
I wasn't planning on getting the sleeve but it was offered as part of the pre-order campaign so I figured why not? :)
DeleteI've only had one day a week off for the last six months. I'd love a long weekend. I hope you enjoyed yours. And those shows sound exciting!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that's a tough schedule! You definitely deserve a long weekend!
DeleteMy eyes tear up every time I see the #ReadForGrace hashtag, or someone talking about it on there blog. She should be here to read them herself, you know? I hate that she isn't, but like that people have found a way to celebrate her memory. I wasn't able to participate today, but she has been on my mind a lot. My son's school is doing Pink Out tomorrow, which is to raise money for people with cancer. (If you choose to wear pink to school, you also take a $5 donation.)
ReplyDeleteI am starting Twice in a Blue Moon soon! I hope it's as good as it sounds, Tanya. <3
I feel the same. It just isn't fair. But it was great to see so many people participating and remembering her.
DeleteI hope you'll love Twice in a Blue Moon! I just made it to the 70% mark. I've been reading so little lately!
I am sooo jealous that you have a signed copy of The Burning Shadow!!
ReplyDeleteI kept going back and forth about going to Jennifer's signing in the Orlando area. I usually go see her anytime she's fairly close. But I finally decided against it because it was mid-week. I just took advantage of the pre-order campaign thru her local bookstore. :)
DeleteCongrats on your four day weekend! I hope you've enjoyed every minute of it! So cool that you got a signed copy of The Burning Shadow! I still really need to read that one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy! The time off was much needed and much enjoyed. I need to do that more often! I was excited to get my signed copy (and book sleeve) from the pre-order offer. :)
DeleteIt sounds like a great week! I will be listening to Twice in a Blue Moon next week. I feel like your graphic every week. I want to go to quilting but it's so tempting to stay home. I hope this week is going well! Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteAnne - Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
I hope you'll love Twice in a Blue Moon. (I was actually just sneaking a couple pages of reading in while at the office. LOL) That graphic is so me. I don't what the plans are, I'd almost always rather stay home. :)
DeleteMental health days are great! Glad you had a nice four day weekend. Ooh lucky you for getting tickets to see Elton John.
ReplyDelete-Lauren

I'm all for mental health days! I really need to take those more often.
DeleteFour day weekends are awesome! I loved The Burning Shadow as well, and am excited to continue the series. I think the #ReadForGrace Tribute is such a thoughtful way to honor such a beloved member of the book community.
ReplyDeleteLindy@ A Bookish Escape
The Burning Shadow was so, so good! The wait for the next book is going to be painful. :)
