The Sunday Post #177

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • I'm taking part in the October of Books Giveaway Hop so if you haven't entered be sure to check it out. What's better than a free book? :)
  • It was a short work week for me since I had planned to take Thursday and Friday off. I had a few appointments on Thursday and Friday was just a little bonus mental health day. Having a 4 day weekend has been divine.
  • We nabbed tickets for both Wicked (one of my favorite musicals) and Elton John so we have two big shows to look forward to.
  • Lauren @ Bookmark Lit has organized #ReadForGrace to honor someone I know many of us considered a friend. Tomorrow (October 14) would have been Grace's birthday and #ReadForGrace is a wonderful way to remember her. Lauren has made it easy by creating this spreadsheet that lists all of Grace's favorites and the books on her TBR. I'm already reading Twice in a Blue Moon, which was on Grace's TBR. Check out Lauren's post if you're interested and use the hashtag #ReadForGrace.
  • And now for this week's 80's music fix: Times Two had a minor hit or two in the late 80's and I always liked this one.

I've already read and reviewed The Burning Shadow but I received my pre-ordered hard copy this week along with the limited edition Book Beau that was designed just for the book. Love it!

  1. I saw the #ReadForGrace tag and it is such a wonderful idea to help celebrate someone who so many people cared for. I really love the idea and I hope that it's something everyone can do for many years to come.

    1. I hope so, too, Becky. I think it's the perfect way to honor and remember Grace.

  2. Yeah for 4-day weekends and shows to look forward to. It's been so long since I saw Wicked. I think my daughter's friend's father was still the Wizard when I saw it. Hope you enjoy both shows immensely. I recently listened to the rest of the Tangled books. So much delicious drama and the humor was great too. I do not recognize that song. Our musical tastes were night and day in the 80s (I was all about the mope-rock/anglo-pop), but those clothes and dance moves had me giggling.

    1. How cool that you knew someone in the show! I'm excited for Wicked... it's been several years since I've seen it. I'm about 3/4 thru Twisted and this HUGE misunderstanding between Drew and Kate is about to do me in. Gah! LOL at mope-rock. That's funny. :) I was mostly into British new wave/pop back in the day. Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Wham, Spandau Ballet, etc. Yeah, the dance moves in that video are sooo bad! LOL

  3. Love that last photo. That's so me!! :D
I've just finished reading Holidate by Monica Murphy! A very fun Christmas read. Makes me want to get me Christmas stuff already! LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading!

    1. I think I've read only one by Monica Murphy and it was an older YA book she did a couple years ago. I need to try something else by her!

    1. I've only seen Wicked once and that was years ago. So excited to see it again! Elton John came here back in March on his farewell tour and I skipped it. I was thrilled to find out that he tacked on another date next year toward the end of the tour.

  5. I didn’t recognise your 80’s hit this week.

Wishing you a great reading and great week, have a fabulous time at Wicked and Elton John.

  6. This is a wonderful idea the Read For Grace! And good for you this four days weekend! Funny how when we have more days off we feel like it's still too short no?

  7. I love that you took a mental health day!

I need to also take another look at the reading list for Read for Grace, although I'm limited to audiobooks since I won't be home for most of the day.

I saw a lot of posts about Read For Grace and it made me happy to see so many participating.

  9. I so identify with the meme you shared last thing! Thank you for putting #readforgrace on my radar. I will definitely check out the hashtag. I hadn't heard anything about it.

I recently added All I Want for Christmas Is You by Miranda Liasson to my ARC list, and I can't wait to read it. I loved the first two books in the series.

I've yet to read anything by Miranda Liasson but I'm interested in trying something by her.

  10. I finished The Burning Shadow earlier today, and (1) it's entirely because of your praise of it that I got it and read it this fast, so thanks, (2) it was SO GOOD. I felt like it was more of a four than a five star book at times, but I couldn't not give it five stars, because I was fully, 1000% engrossed in the story. And Evie and Luc are my favorite ship at the moment.

Either way, glad you had a four day weekend/time to relax this week, and I hope your next week will be spectacular! Also, I've never seen Wicked - I don't even think it's shown in Hungary - but I'd love to! And getting tickets for something you're excited for is always a great feeling. :)

  11. Read for Grace is such a beautiful sentiment and a lovely way to remember Grace. I have such a soft spot for Elton John, he's not someone I'd usually listen to but he's just so fabulous! I'm glad you were able to rest over the super long weekend, I think we all need to take a couple of days for ourselves every now and the. Hope you have a wonderful week of reading Tanya!

    1. I'd vote for that! No, I didn't have Columbus Day off but coming off a 4 day weekend I couldn't be too bummed about that. :)

It's been years since I've seen Wicked so I'm super excited to see it again! And Sir Elton? Eeeek! That's going to be awesome!

  20. My eyes tear up every time I see the #ReadForGrace hashtag, or someone talking about it on there blog. She should be here to read them herself, you know? I hate that she isn't, but like that people have found a way to celebrate her memory. I wasn't able to participate today, but she has been on my mind a lot. My son's school is doing Pink Out tomorrow, which is to raise money for people with cancer. (If you choose to wear pink to school, you also take a $5 donation.)

I am starting Twice in a Blue Moon soon! I hope it's as good as it sounds, Tanya. <3
