The Sunday Post #179

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

  • This week at the office about did me in. Every day was challenging and stressful and overwhelming. I can't remember the last time I was so happy to see Friday afternoon arrive.
  • The Husband was involved in a car accident Tuesday morning on his way to the office. No injuries, thank goodness, but the driver's side of his car suffered some damage. The other driver was at fault and was ticketed for the accident so his insurance is covering everything (repair, repainting, car rental, etc.). Mainly a big inconvenience but so thankful it wasn't worse.
  • I took a webinar course with Alessandra Torre on Tuesday evening. She focused on turning ideas into writing projects and it was super interesting.
  • It's the final few days of the October of Books Giveaway  so if you haven't entered yet now's your chance!
  • And now for this week's 80's music fix: "Only You" by Yaz (Yazoo in the U.K.) is one of my favorite songs. We're talking on top 10 list of all-time favorites, here. The music, the lyrics, Alison Moyet's voice... it all takes my breath away. Enjoy. ♥

WHAT I COMPLETED IN THE LAST WEEK:

Well Met was an absolute delight. I loved the mix of humor and emotion and the audiobook narration was perfection. I finished All We Ever Wanted yesterday afternoon and it was such an engrossing story. I found myself listening at every opportunity because I was so invested and had to know the truth. Then I ended up staying up until 11:30 last night (something I never do) to finish Cilka's Journey. I simply couldn't stop reading. It was a tough read, and there were times I had to set it aside because it was too much to take, but it was also humbling and inspiring and spoke strongly to the strength of the human spirit. Truly unforgettable.

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

Well, currently reading is a stretch. It's what I'll be starting sometime today. And I can't wait! I know several of you have already read it and have been telling me that I'll love it so I am ready to dive in!

KINDLE BOOKS:

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

  1. Glad to hear your husband is okay and that the accident is being covered by the other person's insurance - what a relief! I know it's still a major pain, but could have been much worse!

Hope you have a better week this week :)

    1. Exactly - the minor inconvenience of being without the car is nothing compared to what could have been.

  3. I am glad your husband was not hurt Tanya! Still it's always so annoying as you have to leave your car to the shop for days! And are you planning on writing a book or was it sheer curiosity that had you follow Alessandra's webinar?

    1. Thanks Sophie! And you're right, still annoying to deal with the aftermath but not so bad when I consider that it could have been worse. I've always enjoyed writing but don't have any immediate plans. I was interested in Torre's instruction, though. :)

  5. I didn’t recognise the name of the song but as soon as I heard the opening notes I knew it.
I’m not sure that I’ll read Cilkas Journey because of the controversy, but I have heard it’s very good.

Wishing you a great reading week

  7. So happy to hear your husband wasn't injured in the car accident! They are a big inconvenience even if you don't have to pay for anything. I had a stressful work week as well, and I just have to say yay for both of us that it's over! Hope your next week is better.

I can't wait to read The Bromance Book Club, but I have other ARCs I need to get to first. I need to see what you thought of Twice in a Blue Moon. I've seen some mixed reactions so I didn't add it.

  11. I'm so glad to hear that your hubby is okay after his accident. I also hope that this week at work is much less stressful for you. Those kind of weeks are just the worst. I'm glad to hear both Well Met and Cilka's Journey were great reads for you. I know what you mean about Cilka's Journey though. Stories like that tend to emotionally drain me and I need to set them down and take a breather.

  13. So glad the hubby is okay Tanya, I can imagine he's probably a little shaken by the accident. It's such a nuisance going in for repairs, hopefully it's all sorted out soon and he's back behind the wheel. Super keen to see what you think of the Bromance Bookclub, it's one I have on my wishlist and hoping to pick up a copy soon too!

  14. I am happy your husband was unscathed by the accident, but like you said, huge inconvenience. I had a friend in HS, Stephanie, who was obsessed with Yaz. She made me listen to their stuff all the time. Blast from the past! Yeah! I am glad you went with Bromance. I hope you like it as much, or close to, as much as I did.

    1. Hopefully he'll get his car back on Friday... then he'll have to wait another 30 days to get the graphics replaced. Apparently the paint has to cure before the graphics go on. I actually only know a few by Yaz but Only You has always been a favorite. I'm so excited to get further into Bromance! Gavin has already made me tear up a time or two.

  15. Sorry your work week sucked! I've had one too many weeks that have had me on my knees by Friday lately so I feel ya!

I'm super glad to hear your husband's accident wasn't serious and that the other drivers insurance will cover everything! That's got to be a relief.

Well Met, I really want to read. It sounds so good!

Only You rocks. There are so many versions of it that are so good but nothing beats the original!

    1. Thanks Nicci. I know you've been going through it lately, too.

I wasn't even aware of other versions of Only You! I can't imagine anything matching the original, but now I want to go look up others.
