The Sunday Post #21

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

Hello, hello! I can't believe it's been *five* weeks since my last Sunday Post. My how time flies and all that. I'll chalk up the first couple weeks to laziness being incredible busy with very important things. But the last two and a half weeks have been due to illness. I think I mentioned in a recent post that I was straddling the line between a lower respiratory infection and pneumonia. And it feels like it's taken forever just to feel human again. I haven't been at the office for a full day in weeks. I go in, work until I'm tired (which doesn't take long), then go home and rest. Thankfully my bosses are the absolute best and are so understanding. They've actually been mother-henning me and making sure I don't overdo it. :) And my angel of a husband has been bringing home take-out for dinner for over two weeks and taking great care of me. But - hooray! - the worst seems to be behind me and I'm feeling more like myself. I'm still being super careful not to overdo it (the last thing I want is to take a step backward at this point!) but it just feels so good not to feel bad. :)

Tuesday, August 9: I've been dabbling in audio books lately and on Tuesday I shared a wrap-up of three recent reads.

Thursday, August 11: Thursday was my stop on the blog tour for Renee Carlino's Swear on This Life. I loved this one and can see it being a favorite of 2016. And now I want to gobble up everything Carlino has written.

Saturday, August 13: Yesterday I shared my thoughts on Jane Green's latest release, Falling. Jane was a former favorite author but I've had a lukewarm reaction to her last several books. I had high hopes for Falling, but...

    1. LOL Thanks Lauren! I included books from the last 2-3 weeks... I definitely don't typically haul this many books in a week. :)

    2. Still, I haven't hauled that many books in a month! But I cut myself off for a while. Things where getting out of hand. ;)

    1. Thanks Samantha! I rarely ever have that many books to share but I included stuff over the last 2-3 weeks so it looked like a lot. And Swear on This Life was so, so good! I want to read everything by Carlino now. I hope you'll love it too if you decide to try it.

  4. I LOVE your Sunday posts Tanya! They're my favorite! I was actually thinking about doing this on my blog at some point and joining in on the fun! I might have to do every other week though with school starting back up, but I think it would still be fun!
What a great hubby you have to bring you dinner and take such good care of you! And I'm so excited to see what you think of The Crown's Game! I saw it today while I was at Barnes and Nobles and I thought about picking it up, but I decided on An Ember in the Ashes instead!
I hope reading helps you feel better!!:) Sending good thoughts your way!

    1. Aw, thank you, Emily! *squeezes you tight* I hope you do decide to join in! I'd love to see something like this from you... however you decide to make it your own. I think it's fun to do a little weekly wrap-up and share a little about what's going on, not just book-wise.

Oh boy, I won't even get started about my husband - I could wax poetic for days. :) He is simply amazing and I adore that man. No one has ever been loved more. <3

I'm really enjoying The Crown's Game! It's one that caught my attention as soon as it was released (I adore Russian history and culture). But I felt like it was one that I just might not get around to it anytime soon so I decided to download the audio version. The narrator is good and I'm really hooked on the story. I'll let you know what I think after I finish. I hope you're loving An Ember in the Ashes! I think I saw on GR that you've already started it. :)

  5. Amazing haul! I really hope you are over the worst of it and start feeling better! I'm sure you probably don't even feel like reading if you feel really crummy but books will be waiting for you!

    1. Thanks so much, Eva. I've finally turned the corner and am truly starting to feel better now. Back at work full time, and just basically getting back into the regular swing of things. You're so right about the reading - I read little to nothing for about two week. Didn't feel like concentrating on anything and it was too much trouble to hold a book. LOL But I'm back and enjoying both a Jennifer Armentrout novel (always a go-to) and and audio book. :)

  6. Hope you're feeling near perfect now, since I'm way behind on your posts. #sorry #laziness
I haven't done a haul or wrap-up since the beginning of July. So needless to say that my haul pile is out of control...
Have you started that Jay McLean series? I read the first book forever ago and didn't really like it. But I'm wondering if I'd enjoy some of the other couples more.
When you getting to Torn? HUH?!

    1. Definitely feeling perfect now. Took forever (and then another week) but I finally kicked it.
OMG, no haul since July? I so want to see that towering stack o' books. :)
I haven't started the Jay McLean series. TBH, it's not real high on the list right now. I have a bunch that I want to get to by the end of the year so those will probably slide to next year.
Torn, I know... hopefully soon. I need to read that one, It Ends With Us, ACOMAF... the list goes on. One of these days when I'm a lady of leisure I'll get caught up. Ha!

    2. Most excellent!
It's huge. But not as big as if I was actually working and had money. So there's that.
Okie. Well just a warning for the first book, there is a lot of swearing. Like every other word. I swear like a trucker so I'm not against that. It's jus that it was so much and so unnecessary.
Well tell Robert you're "retiring" to read full time. I'm sure he'll get behind that.
