The Sunday Post #34

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

Hope you've had a great week! I'm going to skip right over talk of the election (can't we all use a break from that?) and instead say Happy Veteran's Day (slightly belated from Friday) to anyone of you who has served or has supported family members as they have served this great country. I am incredibly  proud of my husband who served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He is the embodiment of patriotism and his love of country is unrivaled. I am so humbled by the sacrifices he made. Veteran's Day has passed, but if you know a veteran, it's never too late to thank them for their service.
Me and Robert - Circa 1992

Speaking of The Husband, he was in Plains, GA yesterday for their Veteran's Day/Fall Car Show. I decided against going because he left a day early (it was too far to drive up the day of the event) and it was going to be an all day event. (Hello boredom.) Well I am totally kicking myself now for not going! Because he met President Jimmy Carter! It was likely that President Carter would be at the show since he lives in Plains and has come to the show in previous years but it's not like Robert just saw him from a stage or something. No, he actually met him, shook his hand and they spoke. Robert asked the Secret Service if it was okay to take a photo and President Carter was gracious enough to allow it. He even posed in front of Robert's car.

President Jimmy Carter - November 12, 2016

I would have loved to have met him. He is a true humanitarian and has always seemed like such a kind and genuine man.

While Robert was hanging with President Carter, I was engaging in some retail therapy. I'm not a big shopper and when I do shop I prefer to do it alone and at my own pace. You ever have those times where you don't like anything you see, or nothing fits right, or it fits but you don't like the way it looks? Ugh, hate what that happens. Well, yesterday was the total opposite of that. So I came home with bags of clothes, makeup, shoes... success! I had a blast. :)

Monday, November 7: On Moday I shared my review for Welcome Home for Christmas by Annie Rains - the fourth, and I think final, release in the Hero's Welcome series. It was the military aspect  that first drew me to this series (it takes place in a coastal North Carolina town near a fictional military base) and I've enjoyed each book in the series.

Tuesday, November 8: This week's Top Ten Tuesday was about sharing the most recent additions to my TBR list. I've become pretty picky about adding to my TBR so whatever's there are books that I'm truly excited to read.

Saturday, November 12: Yesterday I was part of the blog tour for Layla Hagen's Your Inescapable Love. Such a good contemporary romance! I definitely want to go back and read the earlier books in the series now

Finished:
Your Inescapable Love - Layla Hagen
Sisterhood Everlasting (Audio) - Ann Brashares

Current
Stay With Me (Wait For You #3) - Jennifer L. Armentrout
Rule (Marked Men #1) *Audio* - Jay Crownover

    1. Thanks so much, Sherry - I will tell him. My husband participates in car shows *a lot* and I rarely go... but I sure wish I had gone to the one on Saturday and met President Carter!

  7. Two years ago I listened to Rule and it was my first Crownover novel. I've read/listened to ALL of her novels now. Love it! Stay with Me was one of my favs in the With Me series (not sure if that's the correct). Have a good week! www.obsessivebooknerd.com

    1. I really enjoyed Rule, Lauren! I'll definitely continue with the series. I'm waiting for the audio book of Jet to come available on my library's Overdrive app. I just finished Stay With Me last night and loved it! No one can beat Cam Hamilton (from Wait for You and Trust in Me) but Jax sure runs a close second. :)

  10. I actually just screamed when I saw that you are reading Rule. One of my FAVORITE romance books hands down. I just want my own Rule one day:) can't wait to see what you think of it! *fans face just thinking about it. I really need to buy myself a physical copy of it sometime soon because I only have the e copy but i loved it so much!
LOVE the picture of you and the hubby from 92! SO CUTE!! tell him I said happy veterans day!
And i totally know what you mean about the shopping thing! it's either a hit or miss for me, which is frustrating either way because i end up with nothing or way too much (exceeds budget for the year LOL).
Glad to hear you had such a good week Tanya!

    1. Oh my gosh, I had no idea you loved Rule so much!! I liked it a lot/didn't *love* it but I will definitely continue on with the series. I actually listened to the audio book even though I own a physical copy. I really doubt I will reread it so if you want my copy I am happy to send it to you! Just let me know. I'm currently waiting on the audio book of Jet to come available on my library's Overdrive app. Have you read the whole series?? My heart just broke for Rule and for Shaw. And Shaw's ex... OMG! He was CRAZY! I would listen to it in the car and if Robert was in the car with him he would get all into, asking questions, and going off about the ex. It was so funny.
Aw, thanks for the nice comments... looking at that pic feels like a lifetime ago! I think I had just turned 23 and I kind of already knew at that point that he was The One. :) Crazy to think that I've now been with him for more than half my life! And I will definitely pass on your "happy Veteran's Day." As alway, you are the absolute sweetest!!
