Top Ten Tuesday: I Like You, But I Don't Like You-Like You

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week's Top Ten Tuesday topic:
Platonic Relationships: The Friend Zone Edition
For those twosomes who are the best of pals and nothing more.

Juliette + Kenji
Shatter Me series
These two were the ultimate friends-only duo.

Meg + Henry / Meg + Vlad
The Others series
I loved the friendships that developed between Meg and some of the residents within the Lakeside Courtyard.

Ben + Dylan
What If It's Us
These two were total friend goals!

Wesmie + Blake
Us (and Good Boy)
The easy acceptance between these guys was heartwarming.

Feyre + Cassian + Mor + Azriel
ACOMAF & ACOWAR
Their camaraderie and utter trust in one another was amazing.

Dec + Rev
Letters to the Lost
These were true blue friends who were so there for one another. There was nothing they wouldn't do for each other.

Ivy + Tink
The Wicked trilogy
Despite his shenanigans, Tink always had Ivy's back.

Simon + Leah
Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda
I loved the bond these two lifelong friends had.

Ryan + Gabby
Top Ten
Despite a brief foray into something more, these two were amazing friends.

Elise + Ryan
The Impossibility of Us
They became fast friends quickly and were so supportive of one another.

Have you read any of these books?

  1. Ryan and Elise were fast friends! I think it's because his grandmother was trying to force a relationship between the two, and they were able to bond over their similar circumstances. A family that wanted one thing, while they wanted something else. It was such a heartbreaking story! I still need to read Kissing Max Holden! Have you read it?

    1. Yep, there were kind of thrown together - and luckily they gelled right away and it worked in their favor. :) I have read Kissing Max Holden! And thoroughly enjoyed it. The Impossibility of Us was much deeper and richer (and certainly tackled some serious content) but Kissing Max Holden was still very good. And I really admired main character Jill. She handled certain situations so maturely. I tried to think of myself at the same age and I know I wouldn’t have done the same.

  2. Ahh... so many great platonic friend relationships. I am trying to think of one that I love.....Right now it is between Pete and Clay in this John Grisham novel I am reading.

    1. Wow, I haven't read anything from Grisham in 15 years or more. I used to loved his early stuff so I need to work one of his in between all the romances soon. :)

  3. That title made me smile. This is the second shout out to Juliette and Kenji (how did I forget them!). I like how their friendship has grown over the course of the series. Declan and Rev share a beautiful bromance. Loved them! You know I adored Ryan and Gabby, but I cannot accept that they did not get married and have game night with their children. Ryan did become a good friend to Elise. I was so obsessed with the romance in that one, I had to think about that for a minute.

    1. It's been so long (years) since I read the Shatter Me series but I still remember how awesome Juliette + Kenji were. I love how he called her out on her emo behavior and would just tell her to lighten up. LOL And yeah, I was loving Ryan + Gabby but I was happy that they were able to come back together as friends.

    1. ACOTAR had so many great friendships! I really liked the kind of uneasy alliance between Feyre and Lucian in the last book.

    1. Oh, I hope you do, Rachel! I haven't tried the audio version but that book really made an impact on me. And reading More Than We Call Tell earlier this year (Rev's story) was even more so.

    1. I saw several people pick Simon + Abbie and they did have a great friendship, but for me it was the longevity and history of Simon + Leah's friendship that gave them a special bond.
