WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story - Kheryn Callender
I'm about 90 pages in and I'm still trying to get a feel for main character Nathan. His ex-best friend Ollie has moved back and I'm loving him so far.

What He Doesn't Know - Kandi Steiner
Oh, the angst! I'm at about the 50% mark (listening to this one on audio) and the emotions of these characters are all over the place. This is a duology so I foresee plenty of drama on the horizon.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

Keepsake (True North #3) - Sarina Bowen
This companion series gets better and better! I loved Zach and Lark's story. Both had so much hurt in their past. I loved Zach's willingness to let Lark go (even though it broke his heart - and mine), knowing she needed time to heal. I was left wanting more of these two.

The Truth About Lies - Aly Martinez

This one was... kind of ridiculous. LOL I mean, every single plot thread was so over the top. Murder and vengeance, ruthless crime lords/pimps, the woman in the sex industry who has a heart of gold... it was just too much to handle. I will say that this one has crazy high ratings on GoodReads so maybe it's just me.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?
I'm on a Sarina Bowen roll so I definitely plan on continuing the True North series with Bountiful (but seriously, cringey cover alert!).

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

  3. Gah! I can't wait to binge on Bowen! Your comments on Aly Martinez' book worries me though. I have that one... I'm glad you're enjoying Kandi Steiner though. She's another author I've been meaning to read. :)
I'm currently reading Broken Edge by CD Reiss for Can You Read a Series in a Month? This series...man! So good!

    1. Bowen has become such a favorite! I loved the Him duet, loved the WAGs series, and now the True North series. I’m glad she has so many books! :)

I am sooo in the minority on that Aly Martinez book. The GR ratings are so high! So I guess it’s just me. Or maybe it was the narrators and I would have been better off reading it. I hope you’ll enjoy it!

This is my first by Kandi Steiner. It’s a little angsty - but not in a bad way. It’s understandable.

I’ve seen Reiss’s books for ages but have yet to try anything by her. Glad you’re loving the series so much!!

    1. She seriously has so many series and I’m not even sure which ones are complete and which are ongoing. Thankfully I don’t seem to get burned out on her stuff so I can binge away. :)

  5. I've heard really great things about This Is Kind of an Epic Love Story (such a long title)! It's on my list already, but I added a few of the others you mentioned. I'm actually reading a lot of things right now... Strange the Dreamer and Circe are two audiobooks I started, but they expired from my library before I finished, and now I'm waiting for them again. Phoenix Unbound is my current ebook, and Moonlight Over Manhattan is my current HoHoHo Readathon read! I also have a few comics going on, and some children's books. Too many at once!

    1. This is Kind of an Epic Love Story caught my eye before t was released and I liked the synopsis. Then I saw Sam give it a glowing review. Right now I'm undecided. I'm struggling with the main character. He's moody and can be cold and downright cruel to his friends. It's like, he knows he's doing it and does it anyway. So I'm not liking him very much at this point. I get that he's struggling but still. It's not making him very sympathetic.

I've seen such raves for both Strange the Dreamer and Circe. Hope you get them back soon!

    2. Hmm -- that happened to me recently with Nightmares!. This was a MG book, but the main character was cruel to his family (especially his younger brother) and friends. I understand he was dealing with nightmares while he slept, and that he was dealing with an unexplained "darkness," but I couldn't get behind someone that didn't treat people well.

I have a really hard time with books that have an unlikeable main character. Sometimes I know they're supposed to be awful, but others... I hope it gets better for you!

Strange the Dreamer has a very, very slooooow start. I almost DNFd it a few times, but was told that it gets better. I persevered and it has improved, but as of right now I'm not going to be raving about it. Lazlo has no sense of self-respect, and I would get so angry on his behalf. However, I am curious about the second half of the book, so we'll see. Circe is beautiful and sad!

    3. I remember you saying that in your review of Nightmares. In Epic Love Story, Nate was 16 (old enough to know better) and he would even think that he knew he was being hurtful by saying something but he did it anyway. That totally bugged me. I ended up DNFing.

    1. If you can handle Heartbreak Warfare surely you can handle the Kandi Steiner book.
Heartbreak Warfare just screams angst. LOL

  8. I am cracking up at the sound of The Truth About Lies. Also, YES the cover of Bountiful is completely ridiculous, but I hope the book is good! Hope that the good author luck continues!

I am reading Defy the Worlds right now (the sequel to Defy the Stars). I like it but it's kind of long? Idk what I am reading next either- I have finished ALL my 2018 review books so... I have to make decisions, yuck!
