WWW Wednesday #44 | March 13, 2019

WWW Wednesdays is a meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words.
Just answer three questions and share what you're reading.

Happy Wednesday, friends. Is it just me or is this week moving at a snail's pace? I mean, it's seriously only Wednesday? I already feel the need for a weekend. Can't come soon enough!  How's your week going?

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

Daisy Jones & The Six - Taylor Jenkins Reid
Loving this one! I know some people have taken issue with the format (it's told in a kind of oral history/interview style) but I find it perfectly suited for telling this story. I can already tell that I'm not going to want it to end.

I'm on the fence about this one so far. I was never a fan of Avett when she appeared in a few of the later Marked Men books so her getting her own book doesn't have me jumping for joy. Plus, her and Quaid Jackson together? That has to be the single unlikeliest pairing I've come across in a long time. I just *don't* see it. But, I'm only about 10% in so I need to give it a chance and see how it goes.

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

A Court of Frost and Starlight (ACOTAR #3.1) - Sarah J. Maas
I enjoyed this one so, so much. Revisiting Feyre and Rhys, Cassian and Azriel, Mor and Amren... it was like checking in with old friends. I'm still not sure I'm ever going to warm to Nesta, but I really enjoyed the set up for the next book.

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'LL READ NEXT?

I've read such a mix lately - contemporary romance, urban fantasy, young adult, fantasy, mystery/thriller - that I really have no idea what I'm going to feel like picking up next. But I have Gentleman Sinner out from the library and I Want You Back and The Girl He Used to Know are both arcs that release in April so all three are possibilities.

What are you currently reading?
I wanna know! :)

    1. Well, I tried to read the Throne of Glass series and never made it past the first book so you're not alone there. But the ACOTAR series really grabbed me!

  3. Looks like you're getting some good reads in this week. I'm almost finished with Forever Right Now by Emma Scott. Sooo good. My first read from her. :) And I'm listening to Far From the Tree by Robin Benway - also my first read from her. I'm not sure what I'm going to read next. Maybe Tumble by Adriana Locke? Or I Dare You by Ilsa Madden Mills.

    1. Looove Emma Scott! Oh my goodness, she just has a way of writing characters and situations that totally engage me and break me heart and yet I love every minute of it. I have so much love for Far From the Tree. It was one of my favorite reads of 2017. I hope the audio version does it justice. I truly loved that one and cried so many tears for Joaquin.

  4. I would be perfectly fine with thew weekend arriving a little early. :)

Daisy Jones and the Six sounds so good. And I get such a Bon Scott/ AcDC vibe from that cover every time I see it, which may be weird, but it just reminds me of one of their album covers? I don't know, call me crazy lol.

    1. I'm loving Daisy Jones and I'm already starting to confuse fact with fiction and have to keep reminding myself that The Six was not a real band. LOL Too funny that the cover is giving you AC/DC vibes!

  6. I like when books are in different formats. Glad you are enjoying Daisy. I like that Crownover put together such an odd couple. Avette grew a lot in this books, and it's always good spending time with Brite.

    1. I'm warming to Avett a bit but I'm still not 100% sold on the romance. It's so unlikely and feels a little forced but maybe I'll come around. Brite is such a good man.

    1. I'm totally enjoying Daisy Jones! Twice last night I was about to look up some of the music from The Six and had to remind myself that they are fictional. LOL

I'm on the fence about Nesta's book, but we'll see.

    1. Yeah, I've never warmed to Nesta... I don't care what she did in ACOWAR. She's still a heinous witch to everyone.

If you like the interview format then Daisy Jones is right up your alley!

  12. The hype surrounding Daisy Jones and The Six is unbelievable this week and seeing the early reviews, I can certainly see why. So glad you're enjoying it Tanya, looking forward to seeing your thoughts. Can't wait to see what you think of The Girl He Used to Know! I remember reading On The Island a few years ago and really enjoying the unlikely romance. The synopsis reminds me of old school Colleen Hoover.

    1. Daisy Jones was simply phenomenal. Loved it! And I hope to have my review up Thursday or Friday. I'm only 60 pages or so into The Girl He Used to Know but I'm enjoying it so much. The main characters are just so likable! :)

  16. I agree, this week is taking forever! I'm currently reading Parkland: Birth of a Movement by Dave Cullen. Cullen wrote one of the definitive books on the Columbine tragedy, so he brings an expert perspective to the one in Parkland. I was worried this would be a tough read, but the focus on the kids banding together to form this movement if pretty inspiring. I'll definitely need a lighter read next though.

    1. I would have assumed Parkland to be a terribly emotional read but it sounds like the author chose to focus of the positive aspects of the aftermath. That's wonderful!

  17. Daisy Jones is everywhere! I need to hop on that train. I'm currently reading Field Notes on Love. I'm doing a 48 hour readathon starting tonight, so I'll be reading a lot!

  18. I have Throne of Glass, but yet still have not touched it. I really need to because the Fandom just raves about this series.

I'm interested to read your review for Charged. LOL. :)

    1. I know there are a zillion Throne of Glass fans but I just couldn't get into it. I read the first book a few years ago and just wasn't pulled in. I never continued the series. A Court of Thorns and Roses was totally different, though. Love that series! :)

  19. I'm with you Tanya, I don't think I'll ever like Nesta which worries me as she's the lead in the next series. However, all the other subplots and angles that were getting set up make me so excited so I guess we'll see!

I also have issues with the Avett / Quaid pairing in Charged but I'll reserve judgement on that one too and I really hope you end up liking it! I need to catch up with the series!

    1. Right?! I see people rave about how great Nesta is and I just think, "Um, no, she's a shrew."

I was nervous about Avett/Quaid but I shouldn't have been. They balanced each other so well. Not my favorite Crownover pairing ever, but still very good!
