The Sunday Post #145

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's a chance to share news - a post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is
coming up on your blog in the week ahead. You can find the info here:

It was a good week - just one where reading was not a priority.

  • It was insanely busy at the office and I came home mentally drained every day. Not bad, just exhausting.
  • I went to my first ever yoga class. I'm taking a six week beginner's series and while I'm not an instant convert I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next class.
  • Yesterday was a total veg day and I did very little beyond binge-listen to Watching You. I regret nothing.
  • I have Daisy Jones & The Six from the library and am insanely excited to start it.
  • I'm headed to another hockey game this afternoon and can't wait! :)
How was your week?

February Wrap-Up

WHAT I READ IN THE LAST WEEK:

Finished this one last night and... wow. All of a sudden things took a turn and everything I thought I knew I started to question. Well played, Lisa Jewell! .

WHAT I'M CURRENTLY READING:

A Court of Frost and Starlight - Sarah J. Maas
The fact that this one is only 220-ish pages and that I've been reading it for a week honestly has nothing to do with the book and everything to do with the fact that I made very little time for reading all week. Even though I'm not devoting a lot of time to it, I'm really enjoying it.

PHYSICAL BOOKS:

I added a few new beauties to the bookshelf this week. Unbreakable by Emma Scott is one that I'm excited to pick up soon(ish). Her stories always pull me in. I need more Christina Lauren in my life so I nabbed My Favorite Half-Night Stand when the price on Amazon dropped to just $8. And Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi finally released in paperback so it had to be mine. :)

KINDLE BOOKS:

Not a thing!

How was your week? Any new books? Any news to share?
I'd love to hear about it!

    1. This was my first experience with yoga but I've been curious for a while. Me, my mom and my husband are going together and it's only a class of six. Perfect for us beginners. :)

  3. Oooh enjoy Restore Me and Unbreakable Tanya! I loved them both. And I was dead tired this week too even if work was not more intense than usual. I don't seem to shake the sluggishness. It's like walking under water some days. I guess I just have to wait and let time do its magic. Have a great hockey afternoon!

    1. I really enjoy Jewell's brand on mystery/domestic dramas. They're almost like character studies and I love the way tidbits are slowly revealed.

  7. Good luck with the yoga classes! I've always wanted to go one but my work schedule and my son's practices never leave me much time for anything. I just borrowed My Favorite Half Night Stand from the library and I just bought Daisy Jones and The Six because my library had a 60+ wait for it. I hope we both enjoy it!

    1. Thanks Tina! I'm looking forward to the next classes. It's a six week beginners series so it should be enough time to see if I like it without too much of a commitment (in case I don't). Whoa, that's a long wait for Daisy Jones! I'm sure I'll buy my own copy later but I'll wait for paperback. I'm not a huge fan of hardcovers. Hope you enjoy My Favorite Half-Night Stand!

    1. Hockey game was fun... even though we lost. LOL I really want to go to an NHL game (our local team is minor league). Hopefully soon I can make that happen.

  9. Love that Totally Random! :)

I'm so glad that Watching You turned out well- and sounds like it has a nice twist too! I can't wait to read it now even more. Also Daisy Jones seems to be getting great buzz!

    1. I really like Jewell's style of mysteries. And everything I thought I knew got turned on its head in this one. Love that! :)

    1. I hope so, too, Nicole. It's just a six week beginner's series so not too much of a commitment for now.

  11. Thank you for reminding me to grab a copy of Restore Me! They released the paperback in Australia but the font didn't match my other series novels so have been waiting months for this release. I've always wanted to try yoga. How strenuous is the beginner type classes? I was thinking maybe there was an online class I could try to see if I could hack it first before embarrassing myself and potentially farting in front of a room full of strangers 🤣🤣

    1. Hopefully we'll both love Restore Me. I'm excited to get back into that world. I really enjoyed the first yoga class. I signed up for a six class beginners series. I love that the class is so small - just six of us (and two of those are my husband and my mom). The first class wasn't overly strenuous at all. And even when certain poses were a little difficult or I couldn't hold them for long, the instructor was great about showing alternatives. It was really a great experience... you should give it a try! :)

  12. Ooh, I've not read a lot of books by Jewell but the ones that I have read, I've enjoyed so I'm going to put Watching You on my wish list and get to it soon.

Have fun at the hockey game!

    1. I've been following Lisa Jewell for close to 20 years (which is crazy to think about!). Her earlier books were straight up chick lit/romance and it's been interesting to see her work go from that to the kind of domestic dramas that she does now. I hope you'll enjoy Watching You!

  13. I always wanted to try yoga, but I'm scared. Last week was my birthday and I had a little get together with some friends. So that was fun.
I hope you enjoy Daisy Jones. I recently added it to my TBR too.
    Have a great week!

  14. I haven't been to a yoga class in ages but I always enjoyed it when I did go. It was so calming. I hope this week is a lot more relaxing for you so that you can get some reading in.

  16. Congrats on taking up yoga! I do some moves to stretch after running, and I do a few poses for strength training. It really helps keep everything working right. It's tough when everything is so busy that you can't hardly get any reading in. Seems like that's been happening to me lately. My audios where I get most of my reading in when it's crazy. Hope things ease up for you, Tanya! :)

    1. Thanks Rachel! I am sadly out of shape and I'm hoping the yoga will ease me into some flexibility and increase movement and range of motion.

And thank goodness for audio books, right? Perfect anytime, but especially when life is busy.

  17. Yay for Yoga. I don't like it. I've got hyper-mobile joints and it just always feels as if something is about to dislocate or crack. But my other half really enjoys it and it helps her a lot with flexibility etc. I hope you're doing well.

    1. Yikes, I can see where yoga wouldn't be for you. Glad your partner enjoys it, though. Flexibility is the main reason I wanted to give it a try.

  18. I hope this week is a bit slower with maybe more yoga love! ;) I'll have to check out Lisa Jewell because I love a book that makes me "think" I know what's going on only to pull the rug out from under me. LOL I also put Daisy Jones & The Six on hold at my library. ;) And I was very excited to get a box from B&N last week - not knowing what was inside - because I'd forgotten I'd pre-ordered Restore Me. LOL Happy reading/listening this week, Tanya!

    1. Sounds like we're totally in sync when it comes to books this week! :) I definitely recommend Watching You, Brandee. It's almost more of a character study/domestic drama than a full-on mystery-thriller. And when I started questioning everything I thought I knew... I loved that. I hope you get Daisy Jones soon! I'm only 70 or so pages in and I'm already loving it.

  19. Sounds like a great week even though work was hectic. I've done yoga at various points and I like it. There are MANY variations, so it's important to find the version which you like. We are doing the gentle or chair yoga right now to help my daughter build her strength. Great haul, have a great week! Anne - Books of My Heart

    1. It was only very recently that I learned there was so many different types/styles of yoga! Luckily the instructor I have for this beginners series is great and is teaching basic poses as well as informing us about other types of classes and what to look for/what the terminology means. I love that it's so adaptable - like the chair yoga you mentioned.

  20. I'd love to go to a hockey game. It's so much fun on tv. They're also my favourite kind of sports romance. 😆

Glad you had a good week even though it wasn't a bookish one!
